Helps for the Homemaker
Learning From Those Before Us
There’s so much to learn from the women who walked before us. The later generations are not taught quite so much as we were, and it’s my hope to share information from my own life as well as a community of women to help each other and younger generations improve their homemaking skills.
Life as a homemaker means different things to different women. It’s changed definitions through the years, with different expectations and demands as times change. But one thing remains the same—a woman takes her time and talents to create a home.
This is the first of a long line of articles for the homemaker. I came from a line of old fashioned farm women who were mostly frugal, sought to use older ways to make a home feel like a home, and keep older ways alive. I am a child of the 80’s and 90’s, but my parents were Depression and World War 2 Era. I learned very different ways than most of my peers. I resonate more with those a tad older than me but still in the age range of my siblings. As this idea of presenting ways to come along side homemakers, I’ve consulted friends who are wives, mothers, grandmothers, who work inside and outside the home, and sought what they feel is best to share. I hope I do them proud as I try to put into words the experiences.
